Assistive Technology are devices that help people with disabilities with learning, independence, mobility, communication, environmental control and choice. For a person who does not communicate by speaking, a small computer with voice output can allow them to communicate verbally with other people. Someone who cannot use a manual wheelchair might be able to use an electric wheelchair.
Assistive technology can also be things like bigger or different switches for lights and electrical appliances, a computer to help with homework or note taking, and electric door locks.
